Kurt Mercincavage Obituary

Kurt G. Mercincavage, loving son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on September 12, 2022, at the age of 50. He was greeted in heaven by his sister, Denise, as well his maternal grandparents, John and Anna Iwankiw, and paternal grandparents, Charles and Julia Mercincavage.
He is survived by a close loving family, that includes his parents, George and Mary Mercincavage; his sisters, Lisa Roys and Kim Rusnak; his brothers-in-law/friends, Jerry Roys and David Rusnak; his nieces and nephew, Goddaughter, Ariel (Kasyn) Judd, John (Vanessa Scott) Roys, Goddaughter, Anastasia Rusnak, and Sophie Rusnak; his great-nieces, Nataliya and Kateryna Judd; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins along with several lifetime friends. It was at family gatherings that Kurt found some of his greatest joy.  After attending Broome Community College and SUNY Delhi, Kurt worked as a merchandiser for a variety of companies and products. He created fond memories while on the road with coworkers. Kurt was a gentle soul who appreciated his time outdoors while fishing, playing golf, and most especially, caring for the family farm. He enjoyed drawing, researching WWII, and watching classic comedies and sitcoms during which he shared his infectious laugh. He was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Eagles, and of playing video games. He enjoyed conversations over coffee and took the time to consider things before speaking. Kurt was calm in a crisis and helped his family members repeatedly, for which they are forever grateful. Those who loved him will miss him dearly.
The burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Chenango Ambulance Service (83 Chenango Bridge Road, Binghamton, NY 13901) or the Chenango Bridge Fire Department (17 Kattelville Road Binghamton, NY 13901) in Kurt’s memory. Please also consider honoring him by engaging in an act of kindness to someone in need.  Arrangements are with the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME INC. 137 Robinson St. Binghamton.
