Marisa C. (Gentile) Tiesi

Marisa (Gentile) Tiesi, 78, of Binghamton, NY passed away on November 24, 2025. She left this world peacefully and surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Vacri, Abruzzo, Italy and immigrated to the United States in 1967. She was predeceased by her parents, Berardino and Giulia Gentile, her sister Ivana Gentile and brother-in-law Domenico Menicucci, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Innocenzo and Maria Tiesi. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 55 years, Luigi; her daughters Marianna (Ronald) Salewski and Paola (Robert) Haenn; her grandchildren, Natalie and Matthew Salewski, and Allison, Owen, Charles and Leo Haenn; her brother, Benito Gentile, and sister-in-law Ada Gentile; nephews Dino (Jennifer) Gentile and Enzo Gentile; niece Mariangela (Massimiliano) Marchesani, as well as numerous cousins and close friends. 

Marisa’s greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren. As their Nonna, she loved to cook and play card games with them and help with their Halloween costumes. She attended as many of their events as she possibly could, and was their biggest fan. Marisa was a longtime member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, where she sang in the Italian choir and enjoyed making pizza fritta at the annual church bazaar. She was known for her amazing cooking, sewing, knitting, and crafting. She was devoted to her family and friends, and was loved by all who knew her. Marisa will be dearly missed. 


Funeral services will be held on Friday December 5, 2025 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 37 Fayette Street, Binghamton, NY with visitation from 8:30am to 10:15am with a funeral mass beginning at 10:30AM. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Johnson City, NY. Arrangements are in the care of Albert J. DeMarco with Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home, Inc.
