A new star shines in the sky For Marlene Wolfinger who took her final journey on September 2, 2023 from Mercy House, Endicott after a valiant battle with cancer. Her friend and caregiver, Linda Ganim, was at her side to gently send her on her way under the compassionate guidance and support of the wonderful staff and volunteers at Mercy House.
Marlene was born in Binghamton, NY on October 30, 1942 to her late parents Arthur and O. Louise Wolfinger. She was a lifetime resident of Binghamton and a graduate of North High School. She spent most of her career working for Columbia Gas and NYSEG until retirement. She was an avid gardener, bowler and enthusiastic sports fan for both local and national teams, especially the Yankees. Her beautiful perennials and manicured yard were a testament to her skill and attention.
Marlene was also predeceased by her sister Norma Jean Leonard of Binghamton. She is survived by her sister Betty Cesar of Mahtomedi, MN, nieces Terry Dabruzzi (Tim) of Stillwater, MN and Pam Hall (Vince) of Isle, MN and brother-in-law Jimmy (Bubs) Leonard of Binghamton. She also leaves behind a multitude of friends who will miss her and her caring, supportive nature.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 from 10 am to 12pm at THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 137 Robinson St., Binghamton followed by burial in Vestal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery, 3997 Vestal Rd, Vestal, NY. Please join us in remembering Marlene.
