Mary Chesna Obituary

Mary (Santoni) Chesna. It is with sadness that we share the news of Mom’s passing Monday, May 10th, 2021 . Following a brief period of declining health and some medical conditions, she died peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Born in 1927 to Louis Santoni and Frances (Tagliaferri); for 93 years she graced this world, our family, friends and community with her kindness and love, and for this, we will be eternally grateful. Mary was predeceased by her husband, George with whom she shared 60+ wonderful years. She was also predeceased by her sister, Helen Palmieri and sister-in-laws, Muffalda and Delores Santoni. She is survived by brothers, Rocco Santoni, Domonic (Anne) Santoni, Sam (Fran) Santoni, her sons Joe (Sharon) and George; grandchildren: Joseph (Carrie), Nicholas (Christina), Mary & Dominic, greatgrandchildren: Natalie, Joey, Nick and Vinny, daughter-in-law, Yvonne Chesna and many nieces and nephews. Our family wishes to acknowledge Mom’s very special neighbors, Greg and Mary Burch and their children for their love, friendship and always being available to help Mom with anything.
Mom enjoyed a beautiful life, supporting her husband, raising her children, helping raise her grandchildren and enjoying her large extended family. She loved and celebrated her Italian heritage. As a faithful member of St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church, she lived her faith and actively participated in all church activities, enjoying working Bingo nights and the Annual Bazaar.
We will celebrate Mom’s life and passage into Heaven through a Mass on Friday, May 14, at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church. Friends wishing to pay respects to Mom and family are invited to stop between 9:15 – 9:45 am. Anyone wishing to honor Mary can make a donation to St. Mary’s Church, Mothers & Babies Perinatal Network or charity of your choice. Arrangements are with Albert J. DeMarco at the THOMAS J. SHEA Funeral Home Inc.
