Mary Anne Neylan Obituary

Mary Anne Neylan of Binghamton, our beloved aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on 12/16/2025. She is survived by her niece, Ellen Neylan of Philadelphia, PA; nephews Jeffrey Neylan of Rochester, NY, and Timothy Neylan of El Cajon, CA; great-nieces Grace Mattia (Neylan) and Katherine Neylan; great-nephews Matthew Neylan and Sean Neylan; and her cherished “adopted” daughters, Dawn Vick and Lisa Taylor. Mary Anne was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph and John Neylan; sisters-in-law Margaret Neylan and Marie Neylan; and her adored niece, Emma Neylan.
Mary Anne graduated from Binghamton Central High School and began her career in the mailroom at IBM. Although this was considered her “dream job,” she soon transitioned to a position in the admissions office at General Hospital, where she met her lifelong best friend and “partner in crime,” Marie Honsinger. Together, Mary Anne and Marie shared countless adventures, especially during St. Patrick’s Day celebrations and at Irish festivals.
Mary Anne later pursued a successful career in mortgage banking, becoming the first female loan officer at Binghamton Savings Bank. She eventually retired from M&T Bank after many years of dedicated service. Known for her impeccable style, Mary Anne had a passion for fashion and jewelry and was often regarded as one of the best-dressed women in Binghamton.
A lifelong member of The Parish of Saints John and Andrew Catholic Church, Mary Anne’s faith was an important part of her life. In her younger years, she loved spending weekends at the Giblin family cottage on Quaker Lake or hosting gatherings in the parlor of her beloved home on Park Ave, and later at the family cottage and golf course on Lake Lorraine. She maintained a vibrant social life, cherishing friendships with colleagues from Binghamton Savings Bank and her hospital lunch club.
Mary Anne’s favorite holidays were Christmas and St. Patrick’s Day, and her joy for these celebrations was contagious. Whether visiting her home during the holidays or joining her for festivities, you could always feel her warmth and spirit.
Funeral visitation will be held at 10am on 12/29/2025 at The Parish of Saints John and Andrew Catholic Church, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11am. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary Anne’s memory to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 3600 Phyllis Street, Endwell, NY 13760.
