Mary Jane (Maracino) Smith

Mary Jane Smith, 89, of Binghamton passed away peacefully November 15, 2022, she is predeceased by her husband Harry “Bud” Smith, her parents Achillo and Filameno Maracino, sister Antoinette Maracino Nanni, brother Aggie Maracino and niece Ernestine Dellapenna. She is survived by her beloved children and grandchildren, Joseph (Kelly) Smith, Kevin (Teri) Smith, Carol Ann (Mark) Austin, Christine Smith, Tyler (Chelsea) Nyschot, Jenna (Jake) Voss, Haleigh Smith, Jake Austin, Colby Austin, Harrison Smith, Brian Smith, and her beautiful great granddaughter, Sage Nyschot. Also survived by her special sister-in-law and dear friend Mary Giblin, and many much loved nieces and nephews. Mary Jane was a devout catholic and faithful member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, retired employee of Blue Cross Blue Shield, an active volunteer of Ladies of Charity, Catholic Charities and UHS Auxiliary. Mary Jane was a 1951 graduate of Binghamton Central High School. A very special thank you to the nurses and aides of Wilson Hospital North Wing 4. We are forever grateful for your compassion, love and devotion to our mom’s care. You were all a much-appreciated comfort and gift to our mom and to our entire family. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday November 21, 2022 at 10am at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, corner of Court and Fayette Street, Binghamton. The family welcomes friends at THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME INC., 137 Robinson St., Binghamton, NY, on Sunday, November 20, 2022 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Mary Jane may be made to The Danielle House, 160 Riverside Drive, Binghamton, NY 13905.
