Mary Louise (Retacco) Taylor

Mary Louise Taylor, 83, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2024. 
She was predeceased by her parents James and Jennie Retacco and daughter-in-law Brenda Taylor.  

Mary Louise is survived by her husband of 60 years Caleb “Nick” Taylor; children Michael Taylor, Michele Ferrigno, and James (Candice) Taylor; grandchildren Caleb, Anthony, and Jacob; and sister Rosanne (Wilbur) Vermilya; also many special cousins, nieces, and a nephew.

Mary Louise began her career as a Registered Nurse at Binghamton General Hospital. After her children were born, she chose to stay home to care for her family. During this time, she lovingly babysat many children in her home. She retired from St. Thomas Aquinas School, where she held various positions and made lasting contributions.

Mary Louise was immensely proud of her Italian heritage, often hosting Sunday dinners and cooking for her loved ones. She was an active member, president, and officer of the Women of the Abruzzese Club.
She was devoted to the Catholic School System and was honored with the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton award for her commitment to the Catholic School Apostotate.
 Mary Louise and Nick spent over 30 summers in New Hampshire creating cherished memories with their children.  It was their favorite place in the world. 

Above all, Mary Louise found her greatest joy in her grandsons.  She was a constant presence at their sporting events and activities, taking pride in their accomplishments. 

A special thank you is extended to the dedicated staff at Elizabeth Church Manor, especially Jenna, Charyis, Danielle, Edie, and Anthony for the wonderful care they provided. 

We also want to express our gratitude to Mary Louise's roommate, Mary, who offered comfort and companionship to our mother for the last several months. 

Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2024 from 4pm to 6pm at the Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 137 Robinson Street, Binghamton.
 A Funeral Mass will be held at 11am on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Binghamton.
