Michael P. Bates

Michael P. Bates, 68, went to be with the Lord on November 17, 2021.  He is survived by his loving wife Kelly Bates; his daughters Shonna and Jessica Bates, Brianna Bender (Tyler Avery) and son Trevor Bender (Adriana Vega); his brothers Bernie Cooper, Tony (Jenn) Lovaglia; niece Ashley Fanara; special family friends Jennifer, Dave, Guari, and Gabe Pavlick and Jeffrey Thurber; friends Dennis Martino and Chris McAuliffe.  He was predeceased by his dear friend Roseanne Klein.  Mike retired from the Broome County Highway Dept. after more than 30 years of service. He volunteered as a driver for the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). He loved long drives, painting, woodworking, golfing, the NY Giants and Chenango Forks Football.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021 from 9:30am to 11am at St. Patrick’s Church in Binghamton.  A Memorial Mass will follow at 11am.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The Mass will be livestreamed at tinyurl.com/12w5eun.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Syracuse DAV Transportation at 800 Irving Ave, Syracuse, NY 13210.
