Peter Caruso, 86, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 18, 2020. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late Biagio and Frances (Costa) Caruso. Peter served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a lifetime member of the John Venditti Post #1 Italian American War Veterans. He also was a member of Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter’s Parish and President of the Lyncourt Seniors. Peter retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Mary (DeYulio) Caruso in 2012; his sister, Lucy Rowe; sister-in-law, Angie Caruso and brother-in-law, John D’Angelo.
Peter is survived by five children, Pamela A. (John) Koagel of Baldwinsville, Richard A. (Sharon) Caruso of Minoa, Steven J. (William) Murray-Caruso of Clay, Rev. Daniel M. Caruso of Syracuse, and Cindy A. Caruso of Syracuse; four grandchildren, Matthew Caruso, Nancy (Jason) Routson, Jonathan Koagel and Jennifer Crowhurst; four great-grandchildren, Adriana, Ethan, and Giada Crowhurst, and Logan Routson; two sisters, Santa (John) Andaloro and Mary D’Angelo; his brother, Patsy Caruso, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. A private Funeral Mass in celebration of Peter’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, July 24, 2020 at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church.
