Peter Normile Obituary

Peter Joseph Normile, a devoted husband, loving father, cherished brother, and proud veteran, passed away at the age of 71. He was born on October 1, 1954, in Binghamton, New York, the son of the late Thomas and Thomasina Normile. 

Peter’s life was defined by his dedication to his family and his unwavering commitment to his country.

Peter proudly served in the United States Army, where he dedicated several years to the defense of the nation. His commitment to duty, honor, and country was a source of great pride throughout his life.

For many years, Peter bravely faced long-term illness. He approached this challenge with characteristic courage and resilience, never letting his condition diminish his spirit or his love for his family.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Thomasina; his beloved son, Jason Anthony Normile; his brother, Eddie Normile; and his sister, Rosemary Cavazos.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Katherine, his daughter, Tabatha Champion, and grandchildren Ashley, Jason, Jonathan, great grandchildren Brady, Emma, Jayce, and Kayden; his daughter Teresa (Larry) Odell, and grandchildren, Kristen, Joshua, and Macon. He also leaves behind his stepchildren, son William (Tracy) Rudolph, grandchildren, Serena and Margaret; son Joseph (Donna) Rudolph, and grandchildren, Emily, Kimberlee, and Joseph; daughter Anne (Robinson) Neidhardt, grandchildren Bryce and Cinnabar; and son John Rudolph, grandchildren Aixa and Rose.

Peter was a dear brother to seven surviving siblings: Peggy (Mike) Saam , Patty (Barry) Saam , Cecilia (Mike) Lanzoni , Bridget (Clay) Cook, Eileen Normile, Joann (John) Van Vorse , and Mike (Roberta) Normile. He will also be missed by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Bill Sprague, sister-in-law Cindy Normile, and many nieces and nephews.

The family extends their warm and heartfelt appreciation to all the dedicated members of Peter's care team for their compassion and support during his illness.

In celebration of Peter’s life, the family invites friends and family to St. Mary’s Church on Thursday, October 9th: viewing at 10:00 AM, funeral service and military honors at 11:00 AM, reception to follow at the American Legion at 177 Robinson St, Binghamton NY. 

Peter will be interred at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Whitney Point at a later time.
