Philip Fiume, Jr. Obituary

Philip Angelo Fiume, 65, of Binghamton, NY passed away peacefully at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center on January 8, 2023 with family lovingly by his side. Philip grew up in Binghamton, was a North High Graduate, and spent his career at IBM, retiring in 2014 after 35 years of service. Philip lived and breathed selflessness. His hugs were contagious and comforting. For those who knew him - as much as he was a warrior - Philip was forever a champion for those around him. He was a gentle, kind, and caring man who always put others’ happiness before his own. When someone would share good news he would say, “who better than you?” He was authentically and wholeheartedly there for those in his life. He enjoyed the company of friends in various sports leagues and was incredibly proud of hitting a hole-in-one on the golf course and achieving a 300 game in bowling. In addition to his time in Binghamton, Philip enjoyed spending time at home in Arizona, sitting on the patio and watching the waterfall, and enjoying the sunshine, mountains, and sunsets. Philip was predeceased by his parents Philip A. Fiume, Sr and Nancy (Shantillo) Fiume, his sister Rose Fiume, and brother-in-law James Bialek. He is survived by his wife Kathie Maryniak, his children Jason (John Slavik) Fiume and Rachel (Collin May) Fiume, brothers Joseph and John (DeeDee) Fiume, sisters Rachel (Mark) Rifenbury and Nancy Bialek. He is also survived by his special girl, granddaughter MacKenzie May. There are several nephews, nieces, and extended family members who will miss him dearly. Visitation services will be held Monday, January 16 from 5-7pm at Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home, Inc. in Binghamton, NY. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary of the Assumption Church on Tuesday, January 17 at 10am. Mass will be livestreamed on www.sheafuneralhome.com/obituaries/Fiume.
