Phyllis Guardi 91, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2024. She is predeceased by her husband of seventy years, Carlo Guardi. Phyllis was the daughter of Tony & Olga DeFulvio. Besides her parents, she had many family members who have passed before her. She is survived by her sons, Robert Guardi and Joseph (Kae) Guardi; her daughter, Lynda (Steve, daughter Christina) Moya; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Robert (Adrianne, children RJ & Annabelle) Guardi, David (Amber, children Andrea & Sofia) Guardi, Danielle (Josh, children Keyaira, Joshawa & Malia) Laing, and Patricia (David, children Carter & Gio) Youngs. She still has her extended family including her Aunt Marylyn who she has always been close with, and many of her nieces, nephews and cousins. Phyllis was a woman of tradition. She was very proud of her Ukrainian and Italian heritage. She took pride in her background, and she would display this through the love and tradition of food. She would make homemade gnocchi, Christmas cookies, various deserts and of course Grandmas chicken soup. Alongside Carlo the “Dynamic Duo,” always did things together, especially when it came to cooking. Phyllis would make the meatballs and Carlo would make the sauce. They would make their famous pizzale cookies year-round. These were packaged up special for the family, including our pets. Continuing on tradition, Phyllis would take the lead in singing each and every person in the family and friends “Happy Birthday.” This became an expected tradition from the young and old in the family. They did this together, getting better year after year. Even though Phyllis enjoyed being in her home that she kept just right, the most important thing to her was her family. Whether in person or long distance she would always keep in touch with everyone close to her. She had a special place for everyone in her heart. For the last five years her and Carlo had lived in Illinois with Steve and Lynda. She was able to stay close with her family and make new friends along the way. Phyllis will be deeply missed by her family and friends but thanks to her many of her traditions and ways of life will continue to live on.
