Phyllis L. (Pignatelli) Tierno

Phyllis (Philomena Pignatelli) Tierno of Binghamton, N.Y., passed away peacefully on December 24, 2022, at the age of 92 with her family by her side. She was born in Binghamton on February 17, 1930 to Margaret (“Mickey” Dennison) and Patrick Pignatelli. She is predeceased by her parents, her brother Pat Pignatelli, and eldest son Philip (“Phil”) Tierno. She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Anthony P. (“Tony”) Tierno, as well as her daughter Cindy Trojnar (Mark), son Brian Tierno (Jessica), daughter Lisa Tierno, and daughter-in-law Christy Tierno (Phil). Phyllis had six grandchildren; Zachary Trojnar (Amy), Amanda Shulkin (Nathan), Chris Tierno, Nick Tierno, Troy Tierno, and Sarafina Tierno. Phyllis was also blessed with two great-grandchildren; Gracie and Maxwell Trojnar. She had a longstanding career as a Dental Assistant and Office Manager. She had a laugh and smile that would light up a room. Phyllis encouraged and inspired everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Phyllis was an outstanding baker and cook, who was known for having food ready anytime friends dropped by the house. Phyllis enjoyed many years at the beaches of the Jersey shore with her husband and kids. She was creative and liked crafting, but gardening was her passion. Her family will receive friends on Friday December 30, 2022, between 4pm and 6pm, at THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 137 Robinson Street, Binghamton, N.Y. 13904. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Saturday December 31, 2022, at 10am at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Binghamton. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
