Raymond F Gee Sr., 73, of Binghamton, passed away peacefully in his home with his devoted life partner and love of his life, Kathy Blodgett, by his side. His battle of 20 years of medical issues has finally ended. He is survived by his children, Ray Gee Jr., Teresa Rounds, and Gabrielle Bohn-Blodgett (Jerry Krissell). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Corrine (Nick Crumb), Andria (Jonathan Fives), Alyssa, Alivia Rounds, Layla Blodgett and his great-grandson Orin Crumb; family members Chris and Tony Sindon, and Maureen Blodgett. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of his life, and Layla and Orin brought nothing but joy to his life.
Ray aka G-man. Ray was a die-hard Yankees and Giants fan, and anyone that knew him was aware of his love of golf. He had nine holes in one, five 300 bowling games, and he played softball his whole life right through to the senior leagues. Also, he played golf right up until his end of life when he could no longer carry on. He was warm, friendly, and outgoing, but he could also be a bit of a hot head, but that’s what made Ray who he was. He was highly competitive, and God forbid that you cheated at golf when playing with Ray. On August 13, 2010, Ray had suffered a massive heart attack and went into cardiac arrest, but on that day he was reborn. Thanks to the swift action of his golf partners and best friend, Billy Gorman, Fire Chief of Conklin, Brian Bailey, and Matt Smith, we were fortunate enough to have him in this world for another 13 years. Because of being revived by the defibrillator, Ray and Billy went to a CPR 50th anniversary celebration at Sea World and were able to play Torrey Pines Golf Course. He also made it to Disney in Florida with Kathy and Layla and loved it. When we would joke that Ray had 9 lives, it really amounted to more than that each time he pulled through. Ray really did not complain, and for as sick as he was, as long as he was, he never gave up fighting to live the best life he could. He managed to make it to Tioga Downs a few time this year when his legs would let him. Thanks to a sponsorship from Gault Toyota, in 2018 Ray played in the Dick’s Pro Am in the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open, and his team tied for first that day. Ray was always happy for the visits and phone calls from his many close friends and golf buddies.
Ray was an associate member of the AOH and loved his Irish Heritage, and Hibernian friends. He was also a member of the SAL Post 1645. Before this past year you could find Ray in a bar somewhere in Binghamton, whether it be Hibernian Hall, Post 1645, Dundee’s, Downs Ave. or any golf course that had a 19th hold. Remember a bad day of golf is better than a good day of work. “Slainte”
