Richard Calabrisi

Richard A.Calabrisi, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord, on February 2, 2018, after a brief illness. He will be missed greatly by his family. Richard was predeceased by his mother, Loretta Calabrisi, and father, Attilio Calabrisi. He was also predeceased by his beloved niece, Sandra Knopick (Weber) Wood. He is survived by his sister, Mary Lou Knopick and husband, Robert Knopick of Binghamton, and his sister Linda Calabrisi Hanks and husband Thomas Hanks of Atlanta, Georgia. He is also survived by his nephews, Robert Knopick of West Palm Beach, Florida, Zachary Hanks and his wife, Laura Simms of  Lilburn, Georgia, and niece, Jessica Hanks of Atlanta, Georgia, as well as his great nephew, Wyatt Hanks of Lilburn, Georgia. In his professional life as a Licensed Professional Engineer, employed by the New York State Department of Transportation for over 46 years, Richard worked in various regional capacities in the construction, maintenance, and design sections. He was Engineer in Charge of major construction projects throughout region 9 which covered the counties of  Broome, Chenango, Delaware, Otsego, Schoharie, and Sullivan. He also served as Regional Soils Engineer, Assistant Regional Design Engineer, and Manager of Design Services prior to his retirement in December 1999. As a life member of the National and NY State Society of Professional Engineers, he was president of the local chapter. In addition, he was a life member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and NY State Association of Transportation Engineers. Richard acted as caregiver to his mother, who suffered from Alzheimer's Disease for 18 years, passing away at age 100. He also cared for his father, who passed on at age 92, during the same period. Richard provided continuous attention and coordination for Home Health Aides required for their care. A Funeral Mass and interment will be announced and held at a later date.
