Richard Presto is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marta Presto; his son, Brian Joseph Presto, and his wife, Tina Gilmore; and his beloved grandson, Anthony “AJ” Joseph Presto, who held a very special place in his heart.
Richard retired from the New York State Department of Transportation after 47 years of service. Following his retirement, he proudly embraced his role as “Poppi,” caring for his first and only grandson, AJ, during AJ’s first five years—a bond that remained strong throughout their lives.
Richard and AJ shared many special moments, including playing basketball, shooting pool, and enjoying rounds of golf. Richard loved attending AJ’s sporting events and was immensely proud of the young man he became. After AJ’s accident, Richard was deeply affected, and one of his greatest hopes was to see AJ continue to heal, grow strong, and live a full and healthy life.
A lifelong New York Giants fan, Richard remained loyal to his team through every season. He also enjoyed visiting local casinos, always believing in “a dollar and a dream,” and found simple joy in scratch-off lottery tickets.
In accordance with Richard’s wishes, there will be no services. Cremation will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to AJ’s GoFundMe
