Robert Spring Obituary

On Friday evening, May 14th 2021, Robert (Bobby) Spring passed away at the young age of 68 after battling Leukemia. He is proceeded in death by the love of his live and wife of 25 years (Cathy Spring) who died just 5 months previously, his beloved sister (Carol Wark), Patricia Spring (sister), and his parents Leo and Doris Spring. He is survived by his step daughters, Dr. Cynthia Edwards-Hawver (her husband Michael Hawver) and Kimberly Rainey. Bobby had five grandchildren: Thomas Hawver, Lucas Hawver, Alexis Edwards, Cameron Edwards, Aneesah Smith and two great grandchildren (Nylah and Nieana Pruitt). He also leaves behind his beautiful and loving nieces: Candy Rigg, Tammi Spring, and Heidi Wark, a brother (James Spring), two nephews (Daniel and Patrick Spring) and niece (Erika Spring), as well as his beloved brother-in-law (Bob Wark). Bobby (and Cathy) also leave behind their kitty, Mindy,  who has found a new forever home (thanks to Hellen Sullivan and her daughter, Brianna). It cannot be underestimated the loving friends who Bobby (and Cathy) have left behind, they loved all of you so much and you have been such a source of strength during this difficult time. Cynthia would like to especially thank Jeannine Barrett Fraser who served as a life-line on more than one occasion during the last 5 months.

Bobby graduated from Binghamton North High School in 1973 and went on to have a career as a welder. Bobby was an excellent bowler back in the day and also enjoyed fishing, golf, going to the casinos, his scratch-off lotto tickets, watching television, rooting for the Buffalo Bills, and spending time with his wife and many friends. Bobby loved to be silly and will be remembered for his humor despite any situation. He loved his travels to the Caribbean with Cathy and their daughter (Cynthia) plans to travel and spread their ashes together in Jamaica as they both wanted.

It is hard to believe that Bobby and Cathy are no longer with us and the sadness of their passing so quickly in a short period of time is overwhelming. A joint Memorial Mass for Robert and Cathy Spring will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas church on Monday May 24, 2021 at 2pm, and live streamed at tinyurl.com/12eun. Visitation will be held from 1 until 2pm.. A tribute video may be viewed on youtube.com under the Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home INC.
