Ronald Alig Obituary

Ronald S. Alig, 87, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024, surrounded by members of his loving family. Born in Marathon, NY, to the late Sebastian and Gladys Alig, he lived a life filled with love, adventure, positivity, and faith.

Known affectionately as “Bub” to many, Ron was a graduate of Binghamton North High School. He began his 32-year career at IBM Endicott as an apprentice immediately after high school.
For 57 years, he was the loving husband of Betsy (Baldwin) Alig. Betsy was his devoted primary caregiver, always by his side, ensuring his comfort and care through the challenges he faced. Ron’s unwavering positivity inspired everyone he met. Together, they built a close-knit family, raising four children and celebrating the joys of 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Among his most treasured memories were times spent with family.

Ron had a lifelong passion for antiques and collectibles and setting up at local flea markets. He embraced life’s simple pleasures: talking with others, family cookouts, sharing jokes, dining out for breakfast, trips to Tennessee to visit family, and being present for his grandchildren’s activities and milestones.
In addition to his parents, Ron was predeceased by his in-laws James and Blanche Baldwin; his sister, Shirley Alig; sister-in-law Sally Alig; brother-in-law Frank McManus; and grandson Dominick Zupancic.

He is survived by his wife, Betsy; children Joseph (Michelle), Patricia (Matt), John (Carman), and Julie (Tim); grandchildren Parker, Sebastian (Ragan), Peyton, Julia (Connor), Timmy (Brandy), Matthew, Skyler, Justin, and Wesley; and great-grandchildren Brooks, Gianna, and Bennett. He is also survived by his siblings William Alig, Joan McManus, and Norbert Alig (Madeline), as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Ron will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him. His legacy of love, resilience, and kindness will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Michael Federico and Dr. Nicholas Putrino for their compassionate care.

Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass on Saturday, December 28, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Church in Binghamton. A private burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Johnson City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Ron’s memory.
