Salvatore Delvillano, 85, passed away on October 20th, 2022. He was born in Binghamton, NY on December 24th, 1936. He is predeceased by his wife Jeanette (Hauki) Delvillano; his parents Anthony and Lena (Pompeii) Delvillano; and his brother Emilio Vincent Delvillano. He is survived by his sibling Joanne (Terry) Major; his children, Robert Hauki, Charlene and Gary Ah You, Joanne Delvillano and Renee Nishimura, Anthony and Cathy Delvillano, and Terri and Tom Wagner; his grandchildren, William Ah You, Leimomi Ah You, Malia Hauki, Wesley, David, Matthew, and Anthony Nishimura, Amber Delvillano, Staci and Jesse Sabin, and Bryan and Melissa Wagner. He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren, some of which thought of him as “the smartest man in the world”, and many nieces and nephews.
Salvatore proudly served in the U.S Army and was stationed at Schofield Barracks, Oahu, Hawaii where he met the love of his life, Jeanette. Shortly after returning to Binghamton with his wife, he began working for the United States Postal Service until he retired at the young age of 55. He was an avid NY Yankees and NY Jets fan and was a collector of all things Snoopy and Woodstock. He was a talented woodworker and would spend hours perfecting his many projects. Since the age of 42, Sal could often be found walking the track at MacArthur School with his buddies where they would talk and laugh during the 2-mile stretch. Salvatore was a dedicated member of St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church in Binghamton, NY. He was a kind and loving gentleman who will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10am on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Binghamton. Military Honors will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers please send donations in Salvatore’s memory to Traci’s Hope, P.O. Box 504, Apalachin, NY 13732 to honor his granddaughter, Staci, who is currently battling breast cancer.
