After a protracted illness, Sandra (Sandi) Chambers passed away quietly at Mercy House of the Southern Tier on February 9, 2026, at the age of eighty-five having been born Sandra Lord in Bloomsburg, PA on July 12, 1940. She was predeceased by her parents Clarence and Geraldine Lord, her brother William Lord, and her sister Cynthia Garrett, and is survived by her husband of over 63 years Gordon Chambers, and her children David (Laureen) Chambers and Deborah (Patrick) Smith.
Sandi was a graduate of Binghamton North High School, and the Binghamton State Hospital School of Nursing, and she practiced nursing at Binghamton General Hospital over the years following her marriage.
After raising her children, she and her husband relocated to Ithaca, NY, where they launched a successful PIP Printing franchise and became active in the local community, including becoming members of the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce where Sandi participated on numerous committees and served a term as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors.
Following the closure of their business many years later she and her husband returned to the Binghamton area where she continued to give back by providing aid and comfort to aging adults as a member of the local Home Instead team.
Until the last year of her life, she enjoyed dining out, traveling to see friends and family, and attending plays and musicals.
She lived her life as a loved and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend and, while it was her wish that no services be held at this time the family asks that any donations on her behalf be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier to recognize their staff for their compassionate care in her final days.
