Stephen P Lannon

Stephen P. Lannon born in Queens, NY on September 15th,1961 passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 2nd. He was predeceased by his father Thomas Lannon and mother Marjorie Flanagan.  He is survived by his daughter Chelsea Chapman (Quentin Chapman), Son Dalton Lannon and five grandchildren, Raydin, Kadan, Greyson, Jayden and Noah. Sister Barbara Lannon (Russell Gladsky), and brothers Thomas and Michael Lannon. Cousins Terrance Flanagan, James Flanagan, Fiona Bielskas, and Karen Giangrasso.  Steve was an avid hiker, with a huge thirst for adventure and the next big challenge. Some people slow down with age, but he seemed to be gaining momentum with every year, wanting to climb a higher mountain, cross a bigger river, and take a harder trail. Steve was known to many as a kindhearted and funny man, and the life of the party, where ever that may be, even if he knew absolutely nobody there.  In his early youth, Steve already had the pride and courage to serve his country for four years in the 82nd Airborne, during this time he was recognized often as a the example of what a soldier should be. He received much recognition for his dedication to his country and his unit, and letters of appreciation from supervisors after taking on the work that a whole crew would have had a problem handling. He volunteered for every “Fun Jump” wanting as much time in the air as he could get and volunteered for every extra school he could go to.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday September 12, at 12 noon from Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church 594 Kent St, Windsor, NY 13865. Burial will be in Long Island National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.  The family will receive friends at the church on Monday  from 11-11:45.  Full military honors will take place after mass outside of church.  Arrangements are by THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME INC. 137 Robinson St. Binghamton.
