Our beloved father, father-in-law, grandfather, uncle, friend went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at the age of 89. He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Jenny Yevchinecz. He is survived by his son Thomas (Diana) Yevchinecz, grandchildren Antino and Andre Yevchinecz, great grandson Zevan Vanderbuilt, and a special loving friend, Beverly Bikos, who he cherished for the past 13 years. Sylvy was born in Binghamton, NY. He was a member of the Plumber Steam Fitters, Local 112 and retired from Stellmack Heating and Air Conditioning. He served our country as a Marine during the Korean War. Sylvy was a member of the Elks Club, Moose Club, and Sons of Italy where he loved socializing with all his “buddies”. He was an avid Yankee fan; never missed watching a game while wearing his oversize headphones. He enjoyed bowling and golfing. He loved spending his winters in Daytona Beach, Florida where he made special memories with the Binghamton crew. His most precious moments in life were spending time with his grand”boys;” whether it was watching them play sports, visiting him in Florida, having some “suds” with them, or just hanging with him at home. They put a sparkle in his eyes every time he saw them. We would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Jim Hollar and the nursing staff at Wilson Hospital who took amazing care of him. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 3:30pm to 5:30pm at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Binghamton. A Funeral Mass will follow at 5:30pm at the church. Burial will be at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home, Inc.
