Virginia Dailey, 91, passed away on April 23, 2025. The youngest of four, she was born in Binghamton to immigrant parents from Slovakia. She moved to Windsor, NY where she lived the rest of her life.
After high school, Virginia worked at Endicott Johnson until she met her husband Donald and started a family.
Once her kids were in school, Virginia started at Bell Elementary as a playground aid. She retired from Windsor Central Schools working in the HS Library; she also worked part time at Sunset Lanes. She was a girl scout leader, softball and cheerleader coach. She travelled all over the US with her family including a trip to Alaska and travels to Novi Scotia and Slovakia.
She loved to bowl, garden, sew, bake and knit. Her greatest joy was Sunday dinner with her family, and her great grandchildren. She enjoyed her Slovak heritage.
Virginia is predeceased by her husband Donald Dailey; parents Joseph and Mary Kovarik; 2 brothers; and one sister.
She is survived by her children Kathy (Bill) Connelly, Bill (Donna) Dailey and Jean Dailey; grandchildren Chad (Ashley) Dailey, Craig (Kate) Connelly, Alicia Detrick and Kevin Connelly; brother-in-law Doug (MaryAnne) Dailey; 5 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025 from 4pm to 7pm at the Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 137 Robinson St. Binghamton. A Funeral Mass will be conducted at 10am on Tuesday at St. Mary’s Church in Kirkwood. Burial will be held on Fairview Cemetery, Lake Winola, PA.
In lieu of flowers please memorial contributions can be made to Souther Tier Veterans Support Group, USO, Binghamton Vet Center, Twin Tiers Honor Flight and Oxford Veterans Home.
