Walter F. Searfoss, 86 of Binghamton and Naples, died Saturday, August 24, 2024, right at sunrise at his house in Naples, FL overlooking Gulf of Mexico just as he wished. He left without suffering, peacefully in his sleep. He was predeceased by his father, Walter Searfoss, his mother, Mary Partenza Searfoss, his brother George Searfoss.
He is survived by his sister Jean M. Mincolla, of Naples FL; his dear friends Piotr Lewandowski and Hioselin Martinez, of Naples, as well as their children Adrian and Mateo who he became a “grandfather” for and whom meant a world to him; his close friend Eric Blais, of Naples; Larry Cornwell, of Binghamton, his dear friend and life long producer; and many, many of his friends whom he met through his 86 years of life and would be impossible to mention; he would often return to his beloved Binghamton to celebrate his birthdays and reunite with friends.
Walter was a singer and entertainer, through his life he lived and performed throughout United States and the world, from Los Angeles CA, to Las Vegas NV, to New York City to many cities in Florida. Vic Fontaine, as Walter was known throughout the industry and by many of his friends and family brought Binghamton national and international recognition with every performance, he received a star on Binghamton’s coveted “Walk of Fame”; Richard A. Bucci, mayor of Binghamton at the time proclaimed Friday, November 5, 2004 as VIC FONTAINE DAY for his accomplishments; He brought joy to many, he was the soul of the party and would light up a room with his presence and countless stories. His magnificent voice and personality will be missed.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St Mary of the Assumption Church, 37 Fayette St, Binghamton, NY 13901, Wednesday, September 4th, 2024, at 10:00 am, Fr. Arthur Krawczenko will officiate. Entombment will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Per Walter’s wish, family requests no flowers, instead any donations could be made to Danielle House, 160 Riverside Dr, Binghamton, NY 13905.
