William J. Phillips

William (Bill) Phillips, 96, passed away on August 31, 2024.  He was predeceased by his parents John & Sadie and his siblings, Julia, John, Joseph and Wilma. He is survived by his devoted wife Irene, of 73 years; four daughters Christine (Thomas) Hurlbut, Joyce (Robert) Alapeck, Carol (Michael) Hall, MaryBeth (Shane) Keesler and son William Phillips. He also leaves behind grandchildren Amy Friends, James Poyer, Megan Grace, Jamie Starace, Zachary & Zoe Keesler, great grandchildren Emily, Brody, McKenna, Nora, Maddox and Lennox and sister-in-law, Joanne Chapuk. Bill graduated from Binghamton Central High School in 1947 and attended Harpur College.  In his younger days he enjoyed being a lifeguard at Chenango Valley State Park.  He worked at Kroehler Manufacturing Company for 35 years and Binghamton University.  Bill was an avid Mets and Syracuse fan. He was a member of the Sokol Club and St. Francis of Assisi Church and was an Ely Park Golf Course Honoree.  The family will receive friends and family at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1049 Chenango Street, Binghamton on Monday, September 9, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
