Obituary
Luigia (Gina) M. Mauro went to be with the Lord on February 1, 2023. She was predeceased by Ernest S. Mauro (husband), Antonio and Guiseppina (Manzi) Capozzi (parents), Pietro and Elvio Capozzi (brothers), Ottavia Capozzi and Giosa Capozzi Patrone (sisters), Delores Mauro Hankins (sister-in-law) and Tina Chieffo Capozzi (sister-in-law). She is survived by Ezio Capozzi (brother) of Plainville, CT., Filomena Capozzi (sister-in-law) of Binghamton, NY, Filomena (Antonio) Pallante (sister and brother-in-law), Italy, Lorenzo (Concetta) Capozzi (brother and sister-in-law) Italy; sons: Ernest A. Mauro and girlfriend Cheryl Youngs of Binghamton, NY, Michael T. and Jennifer Mauro of Newington, CT.; grandchildren: Brianna C. Mauro and Fiance Bryan Langston of League City, TX., Michael T. Mauro, Jr. and Fiance Kelsey Ryan of Chicago, IL., Anthony E. and Hannah Mauro of Endicott, NY, Nicholas A. Mauro and Shelby Ruppenthal of Albany, NY, Emalie R. Freitas and Ryan Grant of Woodbridge, VA, Tia M. Mauro of Hershey, PA; great grandchildren: Luciana and Declan Langston of League City, TX., AnneMarie Sacco and Michelina Dirado (dear friends) of Binghamton, NY. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Gina was a devout Catholic and was a volunteer at St. Mary of the Assumption Church for various events including the annual bazaar where her and her friends were the queens of the pizza fritte. Gina was known for her hard work and passion for helping others and dedication to family and friends. She was also a member of The Women’s Abruzzese Club. Visitation will be held On Saturday, February 4, 2023 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 AM. Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, all donations will be distributed to: Alzheimer’s Association of Central, New York. Arrangements are in the care of Albert J. DeMarco with the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME, INC.
