Patti Kiley Obituary

Patti Carter-Kiley 63, passed away unexpectedly at home on July 19, 2021. Patti was the most amazing mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend but her favorite role by far was being a grandmother. She knew the importance of keeping her family close and put the needs of others before her own, always. In 2014 Patti was diagnosed with Waldenstroms Macroglobulemia which she always handled with such grace. If you spent anytime with her at all you’d likely never know of the battle she faced because it seemed to never slowed her down. Her free time was spent with friends and family, enjoying the outdoors and the sunshine, or babysitting her grand babies. She could always make you feel better with her straightforward advice, sense of humor and of course, a cocktail. She worked hard, loved hard, and played hard. She was the strongest woman we knew and taken from us too suddenly and too soon. She is predeceased by her parents Ronald and Catherine Carter.
Patti is survived by her husband, Michael Kiley, and three daughters Whitney (Chad) Freije, Kati-Lynn (Paul) White, and Staci Kiley all of Binghamton, NY. Patti lived for her daughters and shared a very special bond with her son-in-laws just the same. She leaves behind two her sisters Terry Carter (St. Augustine, FL) and Judi (Charlie) Quaglia (PA) and a village of in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who loved her dearly.
Her memory will live on always in her pride and joy, her four grandkids, Nash Edward (10), Carter Michael (4), Camden Charles (3), and Brynn Catherine (4 months). They were the absolute light of her life and she, theirs. She could keep up with her busy grandsons and was over the moon about the birth of her first and only granddaughter. They loved their “Dama” beyond measure and will miss all the snuggles, walks, picnics, creek adventures and sleepovers at the cabin. She didn’t miss a birthday party, a baseball game, or a dance recital. Most importantly, she was there for all the simple moments from rainy days, dollar store trips, and school drop-offs (and pickups), to movie nights and bath time. She took the time to make any event extra special for her babies and the bond they shared is irreplaceable.
Patti graduated from Binghamton North High School in 1975. She had a long career working for the State at Broome Developmental Center and the Greater Binghamton Health Center before retiring as a result of her diagnosis in 2014. She remained close to a number of her classmates and colleagues over the years which was just another testament to her fierce loyalty.
As Carter put it best, “Our hearts are sad” and the world quite a bit more empty without her. We will miss her everyday, forever.
