Ricardo Gonzalez Obituary

Ricardo (Rick) A. Gonzalez, 72, of Binghamton passed into the arms of Jesus and his Blessed Mother Mary, on Friday July 23, 2021 from pulmonary complications. Ricardo was predeceased by his grandparents, Sylvio and Marie Finelli of Binghamton, NY and Clara and Joseph Paravasnik of Cleveland, Ohio. Also predeceased by his parents Phillip and Lilia Gonzalez of Binghamton, NY. He was also predeceased by his sister, Kim LaBarre and his nephew Nathan LaBarre of Conklin, NY. Rick is survived by his sister, Linda Gonzalez of Binghamton, NY and his brothers Robert Gonzalez of Harrison, NY, (wife Tracy, daughter Brooke) and Ronald Gonzalez (wife Cindy) of Binghamton, NY. Rick is also survived by his nephew Matthew LaBarre (wife Jennifer) of Johnson City, NY; his niece Elizabeth LaBarre (husband Nick Layton, sons Nicholas Layton and Owen Layton); and niece Leah Schultes (husband Ryan, sons Wyatt, Colton) of Port Crane. Rick is also survived by his uncles Michael Finelli and family and Richard Finelli and family; his aunts Evelyn Rifenbury and family and Rose Sauger and family. Rick is also survived by many cousins. Rick graduated from Binghamton North High in January of 1968 and spent a year in the Naval Reserves before being called up to serve in the US Navy during the Vietnam War years. He served on the US California and The Washburn. Known for his adventurous ways, Rick was a Golden Gloves boxer and a champion pool player in his younger days. His real love was for his family whom he took care of all of his life and his dogs-  through the years: Wimpy, Noodles, Benny, Mike, Samson (luggage) Gina, Sophia,  Tina, Hootch, Bella and Billy.  Never asked for anything for himself and was generous to a fault with everyone. He served the USA with honor and he served his family. A brave good man. Always a brave good man. Visitation will be held on Thursday July 29, 2021 from 9:15 until 9:45am at St. Mary of the Assumption Church. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10am. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery with Full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers donations to an animal shelter of your choosing would be a great way to honor Rick.
